Grand Marnier Description
A special edition of Grand Marnier celebrating the 100th anniversary of the creation of the company by founder Jean-Baptiste Lapostolle. This special cuvee was created in 1927. A smooth and elegant blend of cognacs, primarily Fine Champagne, aged up to 25 years, distilled essence of wild tropical oranges and the "Marnier secret". The liqueur will acquire its full finess and roundness after a minimum ageing of 2 years in oak vats. Medium amber with copper-colored core. Candied orange scents sublty fused with hints of spice. Notes of dried fruit, gingerbread, and nutmeg. Lovely lingering finish on nuances of macerated orange.
Ultimate Spirits Challenge: 98 Points
Tasting Notes: Gorgeous orange/copper hue. Seductive fragrance of fresh orange peel is totally delightful and beguiling, but it's the foundational flavor of XO cognac that gives wings to the orange. Flavor echoes the bouquet perfectly as the orange peel zestiness is matched and supported by the supple spirit base. A masterpiece of the top ranking.
Wine Enthusiast: 96-100 Points
This premium version of the standard Grand Marnier uses Cognacs aged up to 25 years. The result is a deep amber color and earthier scent, showing aromatic orange peel and honeysuckle notes. The flavor is richer than the regular Cordon Rouge bottling, but still honeyed, showing bright orange notes on the finish. Full-bodied and sippable.
