Nevada H&C Distilling Co Description
Smoke Wagon's first Bonded whiskey, this unique rye is unusual for using the barley rye mashbill that's somewhat similar to certain Kentucky brands. Typically the excellent distillery in Lawrenceburg, where this is undoubtedly distilled, uses a 95% rye 5% malted barley mashbill. They've perfected the distillation of rye at the facility and experiencing this experimental style from the masters of rye is a real treat.
Many Kentucky brands favor a 51% rye mashbill, with the difference being mostly corn, and 10-15% malted barley. This low rye mashbill makes up the entire difference with corn. It's corn! The resulting whiskey is more like the famous Kentucky Rye brands like Wild Turkey, Rittenhouse, Pikesville. As with all Smoke Wagon products, this rye whisky is blended carefully by Aaron Chepenik in their tiny facility near downtown Las Vegas, although this is the first regular offering that's bottled in bond. At 100 proof and non-chillfiltered, it's one of the most flavorful and interesting ryes available today.
