Suntory - Roku Gin
Suntory Description
Founded in 1899, the House of Suntory was built on one man’s dream. Shinjiro Torii wanted to enrich the lives of his people. Against the backdrop of the Japanese Meiji era, a period of rapid modernization during which Japan opened its eyes to the west for inspiration, young Shinjiro grew into an entrepreneur, maker and doer. The sophistication of western wines and spirits — their cultural depth and wealth, rituals and savoir faire — inspired Shinjiro. He wanted not only to blend imported liquors, but develop quintessentially Japanese spirits for his people.
Japanese craftsmanship brings out the rich flavors of ROKU
ROKU is produced in the "Liquor Atelier", the specialised craft distillery for Suntory spirits and liquor.
The Atelier owns four distinct types of pot stills and, in a process unique to ROKU,
the botanicals are distilled separately according to each feature of botanicals to extract the best flavour and maintain their individual characteristics.
For instance, the delicate scent of cherry blossom is drawn out through vacuum distillation in stainless pot stills,
whereas the deep flavour of yuzu is achieved by distillation in copper pot stills.
ROKU's complex, yet harmonious flavor is the result of the unique Japanese sensitivity captured
in the blending of the carefully crafted extracts of the 14 botanicals.

This gin is fragrant and generously displays perfumed aromas of exotic flowers, orange zest, pink peppercorn and river rocks minerality. On the palate, the heat is pleasantly balanced by the cooling flavors of cucumber, cherry blossom, and white cherries.
