Delille Cellars Description
Our 2019 Chaleur Estate may be the most powerful and concentrated wine of the vintage for DeLille. The foundation of old vine Cabernet Sauvignon (64%) from Ciel du Cheval provides an intense, deep richness. Creme de cassis, marionberry, leather and clove meld to create the initial perfume. The Merlot (24%) from Klipsun Vineyard brings even more opulence and roundness to the blend, while adding notes of lingonberry, bay leaf and mocha. Cabernet Franc (10%) adds spice and freshness, while the Petit Verdot (2%) offers an ambrosial lift. Decant and enjoy over several hours. If cellaring, this gem has the bones to go the distance.
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
Made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Chaleur Estate is lush and generous with a ripe and round core of black cherry and black raspberry that overflows the glass with notions of dusty plum and cherry blossoms. Full-bodied and layered, the palate offers ripe and juicy red fruit flavors with dusty blackberry skin as a firm tannic edge takes grip. This gorgeous wine concludes with a long, lingering finish that will remain food friendly for a decade and a half.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Broad-shouldered yet open-textured, with deep blackberry and blueberry flavors that take on smoky spice and black olive accents. Finishes with a mild tannic grip. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
