Chateau Meyney Description
Situated on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Meyney enjoys an exceptional location, near the Gironde estuary. With origins dating back to 1662, this property of the subsidiary Credit Agricole Grands Crus has experienced a remarkable rise in quality in recent decades. The wines of Chateau Meyney are among the most beautiful references of the Saint-Estephe appellation and the Medoc in general.
Neighboring that of Chateau Montrose, the vineyard of Chateau Meyney extends over fifty hectares, all in one piece. The vineyard is planted in soils of Garonne gravel with one notable particularity. A vein of blue clay 3 meters thick, like the one found on the terroir of Petrus, lies buried in the subsoil.
2019 will mark the history of Chateau Meyney as a particularly sunny year, surprising and magnificent at the same time. After a dry and mild winter, the rainy spring did not threaten the health of the vineyard. The wonderful summer season, characterized by high temperatures, favored a good ripeness of the grapes. The harvest began on September 24 and ended on October 11. 2019 is a vintage that highlights the specificities of the terroir and the climate of the year. Endowed with great richness, the grapes already foreshadowed the birth of a historic vintage at this renowned Saint-Estephe estate.
