Feudi di San Gregorio - Serpico 2014
Feudi di San Gregorio Description
TASTING NOTES: Dark ruby red, expressing all the depth of the great Aglianico in the nose, thanks to a bouquet which spans from cherry jam to vanilla, from licorice to coffee and cocoa. Balanced in the mouth, composed yet potent. A very mineral palate which leaves nothing to chance and conquers those who drink it, with no ifs and no buts. A great finish with very lingering persistence.
FOOD PAIRING: Elegant and deep, Feudi di San Gregorio's Serpico is a red wine which pairs perfectly with red meat main courses, possibly roasts. Also at the end of a meal, with an excellent board of mature cheeses.
Decanter: 93 Points
From the historic Dal Re vineyard with 100-year-old vines at 350m-400m, this doesn’t disappoint, even in a cool vintage. Restrained cassis and milk chocolate, with crafted tannins, firm acidity and a sweet tobacco finish. The palate is tight yet balanced by fruit and alcohol. A precise wine that will age well even without huge concentration.
Wine Advocate: 92 Points
The 2014 Irpinia Aglianico Serpico is a bit rigid and inflexible at first, with pronounced fruit intensity that is direct and sharp. But give this full-bodied Campania red more time to evolve in the glass, and it quietly begins to show its subtle magic. Those fruit tones begin to soften and take on more volume with subtle spice and earthy overtones.
