Louis Jadot Description
Meursault is the center of four communes that make up the Côte des Blancs, named for the predominantly white wines produced there. The soils of Les Charmes are richer and heavier than the soils of Les Perrieres, just above it on the slope, making Les Charmes the more typical, masculine Meursault. The Chardonnay grapes are fermented and matured in oak barrels for a total of 15 to 18 months.
James Suckling: 95 Points
All the nutty richness, the bold scale and creaminess we associate with Meursault from this 1er Cru site, but married to lovely apple-pear freshness that animates the generous body through the long, compact, yet very clean, mineral finish.
Burghound: 90-93 Points
A very Meursault nose combines notes of ripe and fresh white fleshed fruit with those of floral, nut and citrus confit. The palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is also quite sleek with lovely underlying tension that carries over to the youthfully austere, firm and impressively long finale. This could use better depth but given the extended potential aging curve, more should almost certainly develop. Worth checking out.
Vinous Media: 90-92 Points
The 2020 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru was showing a bit of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate more expressive with a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced citrus fruit laced with dessicated orange peel and stem ginger, the finish quite spicy and satisfying.
