Peter Michael Description
Located just next to La Carrière, Belle Côte is a contrasting site with thicker soils and an eastern facing exposure. Sloped away from the afternoon sun and sheltered by a stand of trees on its western border, the vines are exceptionally slow to ripen. Typically this wine produces the broadest fattest fruit profile of our Chardonnays with dominant orange peel, tangerine and marmalade flavors accented with exotic lychee and the estate's signature wet stone mineral character. The name translates to "Beautiful Slope."
Wine Advocate: 98 Points
The 2014 Chardonnay Belle Côte has similar white peach, crushed rock, crème brûlée, tangerine oil and orange marmalade notes. Like its younger counterpart in 2015, it is about as close to perfection as a Chardonnay can achieve. ... And the super-rare and luxurious cuvée of Point Rouge is largely a barrel selection from the Belle Cote cuvée.
James Suckling: 96 Points
Aromas of dried lemon, green apple and fresh herb such as lemon grass. Pine needles. White peaches. Full and layered with wonderful density and a freshness at the same time. Very creamy.
