A liter of great taste for little $. If you love truly crisp whites with great citrus, apple and minerality, this wine will be a treat. Silvaner is one of Germany's greatly underrated grapes. Don't think sweet here, the Thörle is dry, but with a really nice dollop of fruit. This one will go so well with so many kinds of salads, Asian foods, oysters, goat cheese and more.. or just drink it.
Thorle Description
The Thörle family have been winegrowers in the hills around Saulheim since the 16th century, but it was not until 1985 that the first wines were bottled under their name. In 2006, brothers Christoph and Johannes took over the estate, and since that time they have made improvements in the vineyards and in the winery; today, this 19-hectare estate is one of the most exciting up-and-coming wineries in the Rheinhessen. We are proud to welcome these talented young winemakers to our portfolio!
The soils from this area are dominated by limestone sediments and loess loam. Their holdings include parcels in three sites: Saulheimer Hölle, Schlossberg, and Probstey.
After selective harvesting in several passes, the berries were slightly crushed, and the skins left to stand for 20 hours in their juice to achieve a better aroma extraction. Fermentation occurs with natural yeasts in stainless steel for 6 weeks and aged on the lees for 4 months.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of apples and pears and spicy herbs, this is a reflection of the Rheinhessen landscape. Pleasantly dry and relaxed, this is a fantastic casual sipper, but is also a good accompaniment to food: a perfect match for salads and green asparagus.
