Turley Description
Cedarman is a proprietary blend of fruit from both Rattlesnake Ridge and Dragon Vineyards, located at the top of Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Although primarily Zinfandel, we use a small amount of Petite Syrah from the Rattlesnake vineyard as well. The result is a truly powerful, dense and wild wine, long on flavor.
Turley Wine Cellars makes forty-seven wines from over fifty vineyards, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture.
All of our vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and we use all-natural yeasts in the fermentations.
Wine Spectator: 94 Points
Deeply structured and zesty yet retains a sense of refinement, offering full-bodied wild berry patch, grilled anise and savory pepper flavors that build richness toward medium-grained tannins.
Vinous Media: 92-94 Points
The 2021 Zinfandel Cedarman is a blend of Dragon and Rattlesnake, with a touch of Petite Sirah. It is once again one of my favorite wines in this vast range. Dark and sumptuous, with great density, the 2021 dazzles right out of the gate. Black cherry, gravel and dried flowers are some of the many notes that inform this deep, flavorful Howell Mountain Zinfandel. The price? Ridiculous for this level of quality and pedigree.
