Domaine Christian Moreau Description
Terroir: Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils owns a total of just under 10 acres of the famous Vaillon vineyard. With a relatively steep grade the plot has terrific drainage of it’s Kimmeridgien clay soil and a south/southeast exposure that provides optimum sunlight throughout the growing season.
Vinification: The winemaking techniques strive to honor the high quality of the terroir, vines and grapes, bringing out the very best in every harvest. A small percentage of the final blend does see a short time in oak barrels.
Clean, well-rounded, classic Chablis from vines that average 56 years old. The wine is pure and vibrant in flavor showing off citrus and mineral which combine with just a touch of oak on the finish.
James Suckling: 94 Points
The depth and complexity is wonderful with a creamy texture and lots of cooked-apple, lime and white-peach character. Full-bodied, tight and focused. Extremely long and beautiful. So minerally with stone and chalk undertones. Very complex and well crafted. Drink now.
Vinous Media: 93 Points
The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru is matured 50% in barrel and the rest in tank, with just a small percentage of new wood. It has a fresh bouquet that is beautifully defined, hints of jasmine and white flowers, crushed stone and peony developing with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and slightly waxy in texture. A discreet grilled walnut note develops toward the finish. A complex Valmur, this, and reassuringly persistent on the aftertaste.

Wine Advocate: 91-93 Points
The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is showing well, offering up a reserved bouquet of orchard fruit and oyster shell, framed by a delicate touch of toasty oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent concentration and a long, stony finish.
